St. Timothy Tabernacle

Church History

In 1979, Elder Wayne K. Glynn organized St Timothy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ. His membership consisted of himself and co-founder Missionary Barbara Glynn. Being led of the Spirit of God, Elder Glynn was to enter a new dimension of his life that would bring joy, laughter happiness, some sorrow, pain, and tears, but through it all God Blessed. Sister Glynn being the faithful wife that she was never once complained about her living room becoming a church, even though being ridiculed by some for the simple and humble beginning. She followed her husband and served in every capacity that was needed.

“The Living Room”

The living room experience was a great one because it taught Elder Glynn things about God that only his humble beginnings could. The first members were the late Sister Donna Thomas and Glenda Evans both longtime friends who have now gone on to be with the Lord. Mother Glenda Evans served faithfully as Church Mother and counselor. Many stopped by for Sunday Worship and promised that when Elder Glynn obtained a building that they would become members, in which they did. The Sullivan family was the next group that came, and included their entire family; husband, wife who was the first Youth Director, and children, which all worked in the ministry.

“Finding a Building”

Through information provided from Elder Ray D Robinson about a house on Columbia Ave, Elder Glynn, made contact with the owner and purchased the home in the amount of $500.00. The property and the building purchased by Elder and Sister Glynn was for a final and Grand total of $800.00. From the date of purchase, the work began, to convert a house into a place of worship.

Pastor and Mother Glynn worked endlessly growing and developing the ministry for years, bringing many souls to the body of Christ. Their lives touched many people in and outside of the church and still til this day continue to impact the ones who fellowshipped with them. In July of 2017, God called home, Pastor Glynn, after the great work he did for God’s kingdom. Mother Glynn, being a strong woman of God, continued with the mantle endeavoring to keep the dream of this great ministry alive.

“Passing of the Mantle”

In the summer of 2019, while Mother Glynn was praying, the Lord had given her the face of Elder Ortney Edwards, Sr, and placed on her heart to contact him. And on November 24, 2019, Bishop Mark H Blade, Prelate, of the Historic First Jurisdiction of Indiana, installed Elder Ortney Edwards, Sr. as Pastor. The mantle was not only passed to him, but to his wife Evangelist Missionary, Leiliani Edwards standing right beside him. Pastor and Lady Edwards, strive daily, to continue the dream of Pastor and Mother Glynn, through the continued development of the church and God’s people. Through their ministry the work goes beyond the four walls, pushing all avenues to spread the word of Jesus Christ. God gave to them for St. Timothy Tabernacle, “A Church Abounding in The Word, Faith, and Love” to show the necessity of knowing God’s word, the strength we are given in Faith, and, to remember to always express the endless Love that God has shown us to others. The legacy continues, the ministry is on the move, and God Is Exalted!
